German Job Boards That Actually Work

This page provides an overview of the best job boards in Germany for international workers. From government sites and world-renowned job boards to niche, industry-specific listing sites, we detail exactly where you should look to find your dream job in Germany.

German job boards

Germany has literally thousands of job boards. This leads to complete oversaturation and complicates the job-hunting process as applicants simply do not know where to look. Put simply, it is extremely difficult to get a clear overview of the German job market and identify all the relevant positions that apply to you.

At Welcome Hub Germany, we have worked to try and identify the top job boards in Germany. We have identified both the job boards with the broadest reach as well as specialist job boards that focus on a particular industry – but ultimately, we have selected job boards based on whether we think they actually work and give you a fighting chance of landing your dream job in Germany.

Large Job Boards

When it comes to job boards in Germany, the obvious place to start is with the heavy hitters. These are primarily global job boards that are often the first port of call for employers looking to find international talent. These large job boards are particularly good for exploring the entire German job market as the majority of professional openings can be found advertised on one of these platforms:

LinkedIn (especially useful if utilised correctly as it allows you to market yourself and network with hiring managers/recruiters).

Indeed

Stepstone

Arbeitnow

Jobbird

By focusing on these five job boards, you will be giving yourself a broad overview of relevant jobs in the German job market. However, as these are some of the biggest job boards in Germany, they also have a large amount of foot traffic making competition fierce for many of the positions advertised.

Therefore, you may wish to explore smaller job boards that are slightly lesser known (therefore reducing competition) and have a more specialist focus.

Smaller Job Boards

When starting your job hunt, you can quickly find yourself overwhelmed by endless web pages of irrelevant job listings. If you find yourself in this position, then you may wish to turn to smaller job boards that offer a narrower, more focused approach to job hunting based on a specific industry, job type or skills. Here are some good places to start:

Tech-Careers.de (IT and tech jobs)

Landing.Jobs (IT and tech jobs)

Official Government Job Boards

All of the job boards listed so far in this guide are commercial enterprises. However, there is also an official government portal in Germany that lists jobs. This site works the same as a normal job board, but sometimes features job listings that are not listed on commercial job boards:

German Federal Employment Agency

Job Platforms & Apps

If you do not fancy trawling job board after job board, then there is another way! In Germany, you will find a number of job platforms – here you simply create a profile which will be reviewed by prospective employers. If your profile matches what they are looking for, then they will get in touch to arrange the next stage.
